Amid the COVID19 pandemic, the NITI Aayog in its fresh assessment based on the overall performance index has placed Assam’s Darrang district in the second rank among the 124 aspirational districts of the country.

The evaluation covered several subjects of development including health and nutrition, education, agriculture and water resource, financial inclusion and skill development and basic infrastructure for the last two months of June and July.

In the financial inclusion and skill development category, the Darrang district fared even better than the district that bagged the first rank.

While sharing the news, Darrang deputy commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah told Northeast Now that the credit for the achievement goes to the staff and officials of the stakeholder government departments of the district.

The deputy commissioner congratulated all of them for the significant achievement and attributed their sincerity and hard work to it.

“Now my only aim is to continue this hard work and bring out the district from the list of the underdeveloped aspirational district,” deputy commissioner Borah maintained.
