Acting on specific inputs, the Darrang police apprehended one Injil Ali and recovered five rounds of live ammunition from his possession.
Arrested 22-year-old Injil Ali is the son of Riyaz Uddin, a resident of Bogmari char under Mangaldai police station in Darrang district.
Police sources said, “A pistol made in England along with five rounds live ammunition has been recovered from the possession of arrested Injil Ali.”
The police sources also informed that a case (No 1012/2019) has been registered at Mangaldai police station under sections 120(B)/387 of the Indian penal Code (lPC) and R/W Section 25(1-A) of the Arms Act.
On Friday, the arrested Injil Ali was produced before the court in Mangaldai and the court remanded him to the judicial custody, the police sources further said.
However, it has not been ascertained from where the accused got the pistol and the ammunition.
It is also not known if there have been any other cases lodged against Injil Ali.
The police are investigating the case.
The question has been raised if the arrested man has any link with dacoits or poachers.
