On the day when Assam’s overall COVID19 tally stands at 58,837, a total of 1,734 other patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, have been discharged from various hospitals in the state on Sunday.
Sharing the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status on Sunday said: “Discharge Alert. 1734 patients discharged today.”

“Such a large number of recovered patients consecutively for second day is heartening. Gratitude to doctors,” Sarma added.
With the release of 1,734 patinets on Sunday, the total number of discharged patients in Assam has increased to 42,325.
Assam currently has 16,364 active COVID19 patients who are undergoing treatment in various hospitals or Covid Care Centres.

On Sunday, Assam registered 1,123 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 58,837.
Health minister Sarma in an earlier tweet said the new cases were detected, out of 24,492 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.
The health minister said Assam’s positivity rate stands at 4.58%.
Of the total new positive cases detected on Sunday, Kamrup Metro district reported 240 cases while Jorhat district reported 121 cases.
With the demise of 5 more positive patients on Sunday, Assam’s COVID19 death toll increased to 145.
The COVID19 victims have been identified as 66-year-old Rafiq Ali and 90-year-old Mahendra Deka from Kamrup Rural district; 60-year-old Ramapati Devi from Morigaon district; 32-year-old Gobinda Das from Tinsukia district and 47-year-old Rijumoni Gohain from Dibrugarh district.
