With the detection of 971 new COVID19 cases in Assam on Saturday and deaths of 9 more patients, the state’s positive tally increased to 1,93,387 while the death toll rose to 811.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status said the new cases have been detected out of 27,491 tests on Saturday.
“Alert ~ 971 #COVID cases detected out of 27491 tests today,” health minister Sarma tweeted.
Assam’s positivity rate in the day was 3.53%.
Of the new cases, Kamrup Metro has reported 229 cases.
A total of 1,61,901 patients have recovered from the disease in Assam so far.
Assam currently has 30,672 active COVID19 cases, according to the data shared by the state health minister.

Meanwhile, 9 more persons have succumbed to COVID19 infection on Saturday in Assam.
“Very sad and anguished to inform that 09 more COVID positive patients have succumbed to the disease,” health minister Sarma said in an earlier tweet.
The deceased have been identified as Kiran Medhi (51) and Muklal Bauri (23) of Dibrugarh; Giren Murah (24) of Charaideo; Ganesh Bora (45) of Golaghat; Probin Ch Barua (65) of Sivasagar; Motiram Dutta (73) of Majuli; Raju Orang (45) of Sonitpur; Abani Pathak (53) of Kamrup Rural and Depa Borah (27) of Nagaon.
“My condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief,” said Sarma.
