For many residents of Dhubri, Hussain’s victory is not just a political win but a beacon of hope for a more united and progressive future.

“We wanted a leader who can bring about real change and address our needs without dividing us,” said Ahmed Ali, a local shopkeeper. “Rakibul Hussain represents that hope.”

Hussain’s win is being hailed as a rejection of divisive politics. “This result shows that the people of Dhubri are ready to move beyond communal lines and focus on development and unity,” said Saira Begum, a school teacher.

The electoral outcome may well mark the end of Ajmal’s political dominance in Dhubri, as voters have opted for a change in leadership.

“Ajmal’s influence has been waning, and this defeat could signify the end of an era,” observed a political analyst.

The Badruddin Ajmal-led AIUDF faced one of its worst electoral defeats, losing all three Lok Sabha seats it contested in Assam.

The AIUDF managed to garner just over 3 % of the votes in Assam.

It may be mentioned here that Congress leaders have been accusing the AIUDF of being in a secret alliance with the BJP and instigating communal tensions in Assam.

The election results paint a bleak picture for the AIUDF, casting a shadow over the party’s future.
