Guwahati: Son of Assam Congress MLA from Rupahi constituency was arrested by the Nagaon Police after he surrendered in connection with an alleged oil smuggling racket.
A police team belonging to the Kaliabor Sub-Division apprehended Rezaul Huda Faraji, a prominent leader of the All Assam Minorities Students’ Union (AAMSU) and son of Ruphihat MLA Nurul Huda.

Rezaul alias Rakibul surrendered at the Uluwani police station late Sunday night after his involvement was alleged in the racket.

The police had been investigating the oil pilferage racket, which was active in the Amoni to Sulung area of Kaliabor, Nagaon and had previously arrested five individuals, seizing cash and vehicles.

Further probe revealed a financial link between Rezaul and the accused, leading to his arrest.
This development comes after a tip-off led to the initial arrests and seizure of luxury vehicles and cash.
An investigation is being carried out in connection with the alleged racket.
