IMPHAL: The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has accused the Assam Rifles (AR) of partiality in the ongoing conflict in Manipur.
The accusation follows a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister by ten Kuki MLAs from Manipur, which COCOMI claims highlights Assam Rifles’ biased support toward specific factions.

COCOMI criticized the Assam Rifles for allegedly exacerbating the situation in Manipur by supporting narco-terrorists involved in illegal activities like poppy cultivation and border smuggling.
The committee argues that these actions demonstrate a “lack of neutrality” from the Assam Rifles.
In contrast, several Kuki organizations, including Kuki Inpi, ITLF, and COTU, along with Kuki MLAs, have protested against the removal of the Assam Rifles from parts of Manipur, advocating for their continued presence.
