Guwahati: An elephant was found dead on the Nagaon-Karbi Anglong border in Assam on Monday.

As per reports, the carcass of the jumbo was found in the Shilphata area of Nagaon.

The giant was found by the locals in the area.

According to sources, the elephant is suspected to have died in the past one or two days but an investigation is being carried out by the veterinary department.

Some locals also reported visible injury marks on the male tusker indicating a possible fight with another elephant.

The elephant was reportedly seen moving around the area for the past few days.

While the exact cause is not known, it is now suspected that it may have ended up in a fight with another elephant.

The Forest Department has initiated an investigation into the incident.
