The Assam Congress on Monday released its election video for the upcoming Assembly elections in the State.

The video was released by senior Assam Congress leaders in their social media handles.

Within hours of release of the video, it garnered over a million views on Facebook and Twitter.

The video propagates the ‘guarantees’ made by the Assam Congress via Bhaona.

Bhaona is a traditional form of entertainment, with religious messages, prevalent is Assam.

It is a creation of Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankardeva, written in the early sixteenth century.

The Congress has vowed to protect Assamese identity by countering BJP’s controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

“The video is the voice of the people. The song in the background, is a call to the people to raise their voice,” said Assam Congress leader Bobbeeta Sharma.

The video, representing the ethos of preserving the heritage, literature and language of the land, which it says has been “shunned away in the past five years, through the imposition of the CAA”.
