A college girl from Assam’s Lakhimpur district, who was critically injured in a machete attack at Dhemaji, is battling for life in a hospital in Dibrugarh.
The girl, identified as Nandita Saikia, a resident of Dhakuakhana in the Lakhimpur district, was seriously injured after she was attacked by a machete in Dhemaji on Saturday.

She is undergoing treatment at Brahmaputra Diagnostic and Hospital in Dibrugarh.
Nandita hails from Naba Kathbari village in Dhakuakhana.
She is a BA third-semester student of Maridhal College in Dhemaji.

According to sources, she was attacked by one Rintu Sarma with a machete (dao) along with her fellow classmate Kashmira Dutta and her father Deba Dutta at the Dhemaji bus stand in broad daylight on Saturday.
The three injured were immediately admitted to the Dhemaji Civil Hospital.
But seriously injured Nandita Dutta was sent to a private hospital in Dibrugarh.
She is still struggling for life at the Assam Medical College Hospital.
Police have already arrested the attacker.
