Kamakhya-Gandhidham Express train decorated with the message from Election Commission of India (ECI) urging people to participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha Election, 2019 was flagged off by the chief electoral officer (CEO), Assam, Mukesh Chandra Sahu at Kamakhya Station on Wednesday in presence of the senior officials of N F Railway and passengers.
The train will carry the message of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) throughout its journey till the completion of the poll.
Flagging off the train, CEO Assam mentioned the various initiatives undertaken at state level to attract all sections of citizens to vote. He also stated that various SVEEP activities have also been intensified in the low turnout urban areas to overcome the urban apathy.
“Media, social media, tabloids, NGOs, radio partners, icons as well as SVEEP teams across the State are in the field to engage more voters,” added the CEO.
Collaboration with the major departments like Panchayat & Rural Development, Social Welfare, ASRLM, CSC Assam has also been done where all field functionaries have been effectively working to ensure the participation of all the stakeholders in the biggest festival of democracy.
It may be mentioned that Kamakhya Express to Okha will be flagged off on April 8, 2019 at Guwahati railway station to strengthen the SVEEP activity.
