As part of the special SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) campaign to familiarize people with voting machines, few special mock programmes were organized in various parts of Dibrugarh district in Eastern Assam on Tuesday.

The campaign was organized by Field Outreach Bureau, ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Dibrugarh in association with Dibrugarh district administration on Tuesday.

Under the guidance of additional deputy commissioner of Dibrugarh Dibakar Nath, the awareness team consisted of Pranab Kumar Nath, field publicity officer along with district administrative staff Bhaskar Jyoti Chutia and Manoj Hazarika, who elaborated the procedure of voting and inspired all to cast their vote for welfare of the country.

The team organized three programmes at Chandmari Char area and Garudharia village under Barbaruah development block. Field publicity officer in his address emphasized the role of youth in the democratic process and invited their attention and co-operation to educate and aware the electors regarding the importance of voters’ participation in the political process.

He also appealed the new voters and students to enroll themselves and participate in the forthcoming elections with full enthusiasm.

The drive with new machines aimed to generate confidence among people that the machines get their choices right. Seeing is believing, one can see on the VVPAT who is voted for, even if it is for just few seconds, he added.
