A budding Koch Rajbongshi singer from Kokrajhar and three members of her family died while three others were seriously in a road mishap on Monday morning at Alipurduar in West Bengal.
21-year-old singer Susmita Roy, her father Raj Kumar Roy, 48, grandparents Jogesh Chandra Roy, 76, and Pramila Roy, 65, died on the spot when the SUV, (Chevrolet Tavera, no-AS-01Y0183), they were travelling in rammed into a speedy truck on NH-31(c) at Kalchini in West Bengal’s Alipurduar district.
All the family members were Bol Bam devotees, who had gone to Alipurduar on Sunday to offer holy water to the deity.
They met with the accident in the wee hours on Monday while returning to their home at Salakati in Kokrajhar district.
Susmita was a degree student of Kokrajhar Govt College and she gained some popularity as a Koch Rajbongshi singer in the locality.
Her father Raj Kumar Roy was a trader, who owned an electronic shop at Salakati.
The injured persons identified as Koilani Roy, 38, Kumkum Roy, 14, Arose Roy 5 have been admitted to a hospital at Alipurduar in West Bengal.
