Biswajit Daimary has been elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Assam.

BJP’s Biswajit Daimary was declared winner of the by-election to the Rajya Sabha seat from Assam on Tuesday.

No other candidate from any other party filed nomination for the bye-elections to the Upper House.

February 22 was the last day of withdrawal of candidature.

The Rajya Sabha seat had remained vacant since Biswajit Daimary had resigned from the Upper House in November.

Biswajit Daimary, a former BPF strongman, in the following days had also jumped ships and joined the BJP.
