The ruling BJP in Assam is likely to finalise and release its list of candidates for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections on Thursday.

Earlier on Wednesday evening, Assam State BJP leaders and leaders of its alliance partners – the AGP and UPPL held a crucial meeting at the residence of Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.
The seat sharing pact between the BJP and her allies has been finalised and “agreement has been reached upon for almost 99 percent of the seats”.
The meeting was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, State Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, AGP president Atul Bora, Assam BJP Chief Ranjit Dass and UPPL chief Pramod Boro.

According to reports, the AGP is expected to contest in 25 seats, while the UPPL is likely to get around 12 seats to contest.
The BJP, which had won 60 seats in 2016, will contest the rest of the 89 constituencies.
