At least 3 persons were killed and around 35 others injured in a road mishap in Barak valley’s Karimganj district of Assam on Wednesday.

The mishap took place on NH 6 at Banga Bazaar area in Karimganj town as two Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) undertaking Traveller buses lost control while heading towards Karimganj town.

As per reports, the registration numbers of the buses, which met with the mishap, are AS01-C-4149 and AS11-BC-2557.

The ill-fated buses were coming from Silchar, the district headquarters of Cachar.

The incident took place in the morning hours when one of the buses tried to overtake the other one.

This came to light from the images captured in CCTV cameras installed near the spot of the mishap.

Both the buses skidded off the National Highway and fell over each other in a pond along the highway.

Later, the locals rescued the injured passengers.

While some of the injured passengers were admitted to the Karimganj civil hospital, some others were immediately taken to Sri Gauri CHC in Karimganj district.
