Close on the heels of Indo-Bangladesh border districts’ meet held on July 22 last, in Silchar, under Cachar district of Assam, a total of 30 nationals of that country, who had entered India, illegally, and eventually served their due punishment, would be deported back to Bangladesh on Thursday next.

Lodged in various detention camps in Assam, these Bangladesh nationals would be deported back through Sutarkandi under Karimganj-Bangladesh border in Assam on Thursday, for which, have started their onward journey for Karimganj, since Tuesday.
From Tezpur’s Central Jail, nine of them were released on Tuesday itself, while 21 others would join them to be deported, informed, Sadhan Purkayastha, secretary general of Citizens Rights Protection Committee Assam, a body spearheading for sending them back to their country.
Speaking to Northeast Now, Sadhan Purkayastha, said, “From Silchar’s detention camp which is Silchar’s Central Jail, two nationals would be sent, while 28 others from four other detention camps of Kokrajhar, Goalpara, Tezpur and Jorhat, would join them to be deported on Thursday.”

The setting up of a Bangladesh High Commission in Guwahati has helped immensely in pursuing the case of their deportation after serving their punitive terms,” he added.
“With the sending off of another 30 Bangladesh nationals on Thursday, the number would reach 124 in terms of deportation of self claimed Bangladeshis post the setting up of this high commission,” Purkayastha further said.
Sadhan Purkaystha, added, “We have pressed both state and the central government other than the government of Bangladesh in getting all these illegal entrants of that country to be deported.”
“Until now, another 60 odd illegal entrants are still languishing in various detention camps of Assam,” he added.
“We have been fighting to send all of them back, but, a similar effort must also be given to get 300 odd Indian nationals lodged in various jails of Bangladesh, who have completed their jail term out there, to be brought back to India,” Purkayastha further said.
It may be mentioned that, out of the 30 Bangladesh nationals to be deported on Thursday next, there are three females, Asma Begam of Mymensingh (37), Saleha Akhtar (23) of Comilla and Suchitra Biswas (43) of Netrokona district of that country.
Rest 27 others are Abdul Kuddus (45) of Sylhet, Nurul Amin (30) of Khagrachari, Chand Mia (49) of Jamalpur, Illias Ahmed (30) of Panchagarh, Nur Mohammad Gazi (55) of Chandpur, Nurul Alam (32) of Coxbazaar, Abdul Kalam Azad (34) of Bogra, Wahidul Haque (38) of Brahmanbaria, Saidur Rehman (53) of Singra, Mohammad Javed (48) of Comilla, Mazahar Molla (40) of Faridpur, Saddam Hossain (22) of Kurigram, Fazar Ali Molla (37) of Pabna, Azbahar Piyada (65) of Shakhira, Kartik Chandra Shil (40) of Comilla, Younis Ali (35) of Nator, Ariful Hakim (38) of Coxbazaar, Mohin Ali (37) of Comilla, Asish Das (51) of Chittagong, Abul Khayer (30 ) of Comilla, Jahangir Alam (38) of Dinajpur, Abdul Kalam Molla (48) of Khulna, Abul Kasem (50) of Netrokona, Laxman Chakraborty (27) of Sunamganj, Jahanur Alam (39) of Panchgarh and Mohammad Abdulla (46) of Chuadanga.
