To commemorate the 73nd Independence Day celebrations, Tezpur-based Gajraj Corps organized a mini marathon run at Assam’s Tezpur on Sunday.

The mini marathon run was organized with an endeavour to foster the spirit of peace, unity and fitness as well as civil military bonhomie for the local populace.

Around 2,100 people including 350 serving defence personnel participated in the event.

Informing this, Guwahati-based defence PRO Lt Col P. Khongsai through a press communiqué stated: “The event saw a colossal participation of around 2100 participants including 350 serving defence personnel from all places in and around Tezpur.”

In a glittering ceremony, the race was flagged off by Lt Gen Manoj Pande, GOC 4 Corps in the presence of a number of civil dignitaries at local Polo & Football ground, he added.

“The event proved to be a befitting tribute to the freedom fighters and martyrs with participation from all ages and groups,” the defence PRO said.
