A Su-30 aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed at at Milanpur area in Tezpur on Thursday evening.
The crash took place around 8.30 pm when the aircraft was on a routine training mission.
Defence PRO Wing Commander Ratnakar Singh said both the pilots on board the aircraft has, however, ejected safely from the aircraft.
They have been rescued, he said.
A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain cause of the accident, Singh added.
An AN-32 aircraft of the Indian Air Force with 13 air warriors on board crashed in a heavily forested mountainous area in Arunachal Pradesh on June 3 last.
The aircraft went missing on the afternoon of June 3 last , around 33 minutes after taking off from Jorhat in Assam for Menchuka in Arunachal Pradesh.
After eight days of a massive search operation, the wreckage of the plane was spotted by an IAF chopperat a height of 12,000 ft near Gatte village on the border of Siang and Shi-Yomi districts.
Bodies of all 13 IAF personnel on board the ill-fated transport aircraft were retrieved on June 13.
