In a major drug haul, a team of Bajali Police in Barpeta district was able to arrest two youths along with a consignment of narcotics in the form of tablets at Pathsala in the district on Tuesday.
The police team was led by Teleswar Saikia, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Bajali Sub-Division, Samiran Bishaya, Officer-in-Charge, Patacharkuchi PS and Sailen Kalita, In-charge, Pathsala Police Outpost.
According to information, the youths, who were arrested on charges of drug trafficking from a tea stall of Pathsala town in Barpeta district in the evening, have been currently lodged in the Pathsala Police Outpost.
The youths have been identified as 23-year-old Roful Ali and 25-year-old Ajad Khan, who hail from Silchar of Cachar district in the Barak Valley.
The duo confessed that they took narcotics in the form of tablets to Pathsala town for selling the same at higher prices.
The youths informed that they had bought the consignment of 100 tablets for Rs 20,000 and were on look-out to sell the same at a higher price to prospective buyers.
Talking to Northeast Now, SDPO Saikia said, “We had specific inputs about the two youths and based on reliable sources, a team of Bajali Police nabbed them from a tea stall in Pathsala town.”
The police official further stated that the duo is being interrogated for further details.
