A total of 165 students, comprising five Ph.D. scholars, 112 postgraduates, and 48 undergraduates in Social Sciences, were conferred degrees.

Guwahati: Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Guwahati off-campus recently held its 11th Convocation ceremony, honoring its graduating class of 2024.

The event, held at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre Auditorium, saw the participation of distinguished guests including Prof. Gauri Dutt Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM), and TISS Chancellor Prof. D.P. Singh.

The ceremony was marked by the lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana, followed by congratulatory messages from TISS officials.

In his convocation address, Prof. G.D. Sharma highlighted the unique opportunity for social scientists to leverage the diverse cultural landscape of Northeast India.

He urged graduates to embrace this diversity as a catalyst for social cohesion and contribute to a harmonious society.

Prof. Sharma further emphasized the importance of critical thinking, empathy, and a broad understanding of societal challenges, which are fostered by TISS Guwahati‘s curriculum.

He encouraged graduates to apply their knowledge and skills to various fields, including NGOs, corporate sectors, entrepreneurship, and public service while adapting to the evolving global landscape.

The convocation ceremony celebrated the academic achievements of the graduates and their potential to make a positive impact on society.
