The 12th Edition of the Dibrugarh Book Fair got underway at the Chowkidinghee playground in Assam’s Dibrugarh on Friday.
The 12-day book fair, organised by the leading socio-cultural organisation of Dibrugarh, Milan Jyoti Sangha in association with the All Assam Publishers and Book Sellers Association, was inaugurated by eminent litterateur and former Asom Sahitya Sabha president Nagen Saikia.
Speaking on the occasion, Nagen Saikia said, “I have been associated with the book fair by Milan Jyoti Sangha for the past several years. The young generation should imbibe the habit of reading books.”
Former Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University Kandarpa Deka, Dibrugarh deputy commissioner Biswajit Pegu were among those who were present in the inaugural event.
According to the organisers, more than 100 book sellers and publishers from across the country have installed stalls in the book fair.
The book fair will feature interactive sessions with renowned literary figures, debates, seminars, quiz, art, poets’ meet and cultural programmes.
Several new books, penned by established and budding writers, will be released during the book fair.

The book fair will remain open for the public on all days from 11 am to 8 pm till December 7, 2021.
