“A series of anti Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA programmes will begin in Assam from Saturday,” said AJYCP general secretary Palash Changmai to the press on Thursday.

“We are aware that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam to inaugurate the Khelo India Youth Games on January 10. We oppose his visit and would intensify the anti-CAA stir on that day,” Changmai added.

The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) GS further condemned the baton charge on AASU activists who have been staging a democratic protest against CAA in various places of the state.

“We have our full support to the protests staged by the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) members,” Gogoi said.

Changmai further said that on January 8, the organisation will stage a protest by collaborating with the people from different walks of life in the state.

“We will observe January 11 as black day across Assam,” Changmai added.

“On January 12, we have decided to pay tributes to the five anti-CAA stir martyrs and accordingly we have organised tribute programmes across the state,” he added.

“On January 13, we will stage a sit-in demonstration at Last Gate area of Guwahati,” he added.
