With the detection of these 92 new case, Assam’s active cases tally has risen to 683.

There has been a gradual rise in COVID-19 cases in Assam.

A total of 70 COVID-19 cases were detected in Assam on Monday (April 5).

69 cases were detected on Sunday (April 4).

On Saturday (April 3) Assam logged 68 cases.

On April 2, 63 cases were detected in Assam.

58 cases were detected on April 1.

Since April 1, Assam has recorded a total of 420 COVID-19 cases.

Health officials in Assam fear that COVID-19 cases in the State may rise further if COVID-19 protocols are not followed sincerely.

Notably, during the course of Assam Assembly elections, COVID-19 protocols and other social distancing norms were violated rampantly.

Meanwhile, the health officials in Assam are of the view that the sudden rapid surge in COVID-19 cases is witnessed because the infection might have been imported from other States.

Health officials are of the view that there is a need to increase the number of testing in Assam.

“Students are most vulnerable to the infection. The government should immediately switch over to the online mode as a precautionary measure,” read a statement issued by the Guwahati Yuba Nagarik Samiti.

Notably, eleven (11) out of the 138 girls of DCB Girls’ College in upper Assam’s Jorhat tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.
