COVID-19 spreading at fast pace, says Health Ministry

COVID-19 is spreading in India at fast pace.

The Union Health Ministry stated that COVID-19 is spreading in India at a faster pace compared to last year. 

The next four weeks are very critical, the Health Ministry said. 

“People’s participation is vital to control the second wave. The next four weeks are going to very critical. The entire country has to come together and make efforts to fight the pandemic.”

NITI Aayog Member (Health) Dr VK Paul said the pandemic situation in the country has worsened with a sharp rise in cases and a large part of the population is still susceptible to the virus.  

Meanwhile, 630 COVID-19 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours in India, the highest single-day toll since November 5. 

India on Tuesday recorded the highest one-day spike of COVID-19 cases at 1.07 lakh. 

The number of daily cases in India breached the 1-lakh mark for the second time in three days. 

India on Sunday registered 1,03,558 cases in a span of 24 hours.

The vaccination policy is based on scientific principles and is intended to secure vulnerable population first keeping in mind vaccine supplies and is no different from the approaches adopted even by developed countries like US, UK and Australia, the Centre said on Tuesday. 

Keeping in view the rapid surge in COVID-19 case, the Delhi Government has imposed night curfew in the National Capital. 

Night curfew in Delhi has come into force since Tuesday and will continue till April 30. 

States like Maharashtra and Rajasthan have also launched night curfews to restrict movement in the middle of a spike in COVID-19 cases across the country. 

The COVID-19 caseload in India has seen massive surge in the past couple of weeks.
