A total of 63 candidates have filed nominations for the third phase of Lok Sabha polls in Assam which will see polling for Guwahati, Kokrajhar, Barpeta and Dhubri Lok Sabha seats in the state.

Election officials on Thursday said 63 candidates have filed nominations so far including 20 candidates for the Guwahati constituency, 14 candidates in Barpeta constituency, 12 candidates in Kokrajhar constituency and 17 candidates filed nominations from the Dhubri Lok Sabha constituency.

The scrutiny of nominations is scheduled for Friday and April 8 is the last date for withdrawal of nominations, the officials said on Thursday.

While Bobbeeta Sharma (Congress), Queen Oja (BJP) and Upamanyu Hazarika (Independent) are prominent candidates in Guwahati Lok Sabha constituency, Kumar Deepak Das of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Abdul Khaleque of the Congress are the known names contesting from the Barpeta constituency.

In Dhubri, the known names include sitting MP and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal, Zabed Islam (AGP) and Abu Taher Bepari of the Congress.

In Kokrajhar constituency, the list of prominent candidates include sitting MP Naba Kumar Sarania (Independent), Pramila Rani Brahma (BPF), Urkhao Gwra Brahma (United People’s Party Liberal) and Sabda Ram Rabha (Congress).
