The 5th edition of Candid Clicks Photography Exhibition 2019 has been underway at the Artists’ Gallery in Guwahati.
The photography exhibition, which was inaugurated by Assam’s noted filmmaker Charu Kamal Hazarika on Saturday, will continue till August 1, 2019.
Earlier, a meeting was organized on the occasion under the chairmanship of IAS officer Sanjib Kumar Gohain Barua, secretary to the Assam governor.
Speaking on the occasion, filmmaker Charu Kamal Hazarika, who was present as the chief guest, spoke about his photography to filmmaking journey.
He urged the photographers to go ahead whatever cameras or equipment they have to capture a moment.
Hazarika, speaking about an interesting incident of 1972 when he was a student of Dibrugarh University, explained how the first photography exhibition in the university was organized during their time.
He said, “The photographers should make best use of their available cameras.”
Munin Bayan, editor of Assamese daily ‘Dainik Asom’, who was present as the guest of honour, lauded the photographers associated with Candid Clicks and urged them to take forward their mission of photography.
He was also all praise for the initiative of Candid Clicks, a large group of around 5,000 photographers, most of whom have been able to exhibit their talents through their photographs.
Leela Dutta, a photographer and wife of Assam’s noted photographer late Jayanta Dutta, who was also present on the occasion, mentioned about some events of the photography history of Assam.
Sanjib Kumar Gohain Barua, who loves photography, speaking on the occasion said, “Camera is one of the best friends for people who feel loneliness.”
A competition was also conducted among the photographers associated with Candid Clicks.
While Krishna Kinkar Nath won the first prize of the 1st Candid Clicks Photography Competition 2019 on the theme ‘Landscape’, the second prize on the same theme was won by Pranab Nitu Sarma.
The first prize of the competition on the theme ‘Pictorial’ was won by Satyajit Dutta while the second prize on the same theme was won by Golap Das.
The photography exhibition will be open from 2 pm to 8 pm daily.
The photographs of the exhibition, which has been participated by a large number of member photographers of Candid Clicks, have been able to draw the attention of all the visitors.
Photographer Debasish Barua, who was behind the journey of Candid Clicks, a group of photographers and nature lovers, also spoke on the occasion.
