Noted Assamese filmmaker Rima Das will be honoured with โ€˜Global Icon Awardโ€™ at the Prag Cine Awards this year.

โ€˜Village Rockstarsโ€™ fame filmmaker Rima Dasโ€™ film โ€˜Bulbul Can Singโ€™ has also been nominated for different categories in the 10th edition of the Prag Cine Awards this year.

This year, โ€˜Bulbul Can Singโ€™ has been nominated for the categories โ€“ Screenplay, Cinematography, Best Director, Best Film, Best Actress (Arnali Das), Best Actor  (Manoranjan Das).

Informing about the nomination and the award, filmmaker on her Facebook page stated: โ€œWeโ€™re back at Prag Cine Awards third time in a row with our third #BulbulCanSing. Happy to be receiving the Global Icon Award. โ€˜Bulbul Can Singโ€™ is about a teenage girl who lives in a village in Assam.

The girl, who falls in love, is on the verge of discovering her teen life, but unfortunately due to a tragedy striking her best friend, she finds questioning herself and her love life.

She recently made the state proud again by her gracious representation at the Cannes film festival this year.

Rima Das made her appearance as a panelist at the โ€˜India Pavilionโ€™ of the Cannes film festival.

The event was organized by the ministry of information and broadcasting, Government of India and inaugurated by the ministryโ€™s secretary Amit Khare.

She gave her views on how to make regional films reach the global audience which was one of the main topics discussed at the โ€˜India Pavilionโ€™.

This year, the filmmaker also joined Toronto International Film Festivalโ€™s โ€˜Share Her Journeyโ€™ as its official ambassador.
