A day after semi-nude photographs of two district level leaders of the BJP youth wing went viral on the social networking sites, the Dhubri district unit of the party suspended the duo from all portfolios with immediate effect.
The leaders of the BJP youth wing, who have been identified as Biswajit Das, general secretary of Dhubri district unit of the Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and Somnath Banik, mandal president of Dhubri Town Committee of BJYM, shared their semi-nude photographs in the social networking sites. The photographs were first shared on Facebook and later those went viral in different WhatsApp groups.

Party sources revealed that the photographs were shared from the personal Facebook account of Somnath Banik on July 30. However, in the written complaint lodged jointly before the Dhubri Police, Somnath Banik and Biswajit Das alleged that someone had hacked the Facebook account of Banik and uploaded the photographs with a motive to tarnish their political images.
G Deka, Additional Superintendent of Police, Dhubri said that on the basis of the complaint filed jointly by Somnath Banik and Biswajit Das, police have lodged an FIR bearing No 1070/2018 under Section of 66 (E) of IT Act (Punishment for violation of Privacy) and started further investigation. But till filing of this report, no one has been arrested in the case as the matter is under investigation of the cyber cell.
However, Dipak Saha, president of Dhubri district unit of BJP said soon after hearing the news, both party leaders have been suspended with immediate effect and the party has also urged to the Dhubri Police to complete the investigation as early as possible and punish those who are involved in the heinous crime.

“We have nothing to say with his photos in the social media now. As being a party member of BJP, each and every leader must have a clean character and in the present circumstances, the duo leaders were found lacking it and accordingly, they have been suspended till the police investigation is over,” Dipak Saha added.
