On the 68th death anniversary of Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, various organizations in Tezpur of Assam’s Sonitpur district including POKI, Tezpur Sahitya Sabha, Trimurty Uddyan, Tezpur District Lekhika Samaruh Samittee, Tezpur District Mahila Samittee, Ban Theatre etc paid rich tribute to the cultural icon.
On the other hand, on this occasion the construction memorial tomb (asthi dham) of music legend Dr Bhupen hazarika was also started.

Moreover, the centenary year celebration of exhibition of canvas that was started under the initiative of the ‘Rupkonwar’ long hundred years back in Tezpur was also inaugurated by noted canvas artist Noni Borpuzari.
In his speech, he commemorated besides other creative works of how Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala devoted himself in bringing up an environment of canvas in the region among the people.
The inaugural session of year-long exhibition organized by Tezpur Artist Forum that is to be held in Tezpur was also attended by president of Guwahati Artist Guild, Aminul Haque, secretary, Kishor Kumar Das, noted artist Tikendrajit Saikia among others.

At Trimurty Uddyan MLA, Tezpur LAC, Brindaban Goswami started the programme of paying tribute to the cultural icon. In his speech he urged the people to follow the ideology of the cultural icon.
A cultural procession was also taken from Trimurty Uddyan that culminated at Tezpur Sahitya Sabha Bhawan.
