The 37th battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) of Mangaldai has initiated a 10-day long self employment training cum awareness programme on goat rearing under Rural Self Employment Training Institution (RSETI), Udalguri in Assam for the Indo-Bhutan border populace.

This is done in a bid to resolve the unemployment problem among educated youths and open up self-employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for being financially independent.

Four selected youths from bordering area are participating in the training, which have been sponsored by 37th Bn, SSB Mangaldai.

The  training programme was inaugurated by Joint Area Organizer, AO SSB Udalguri,Prasenjit Koch in  presence of Offg Commandant 37th Bn SSB,MD Tamang; Tapan  Basumatary, Director, and Senior Assistant RESTI, Udalguri, Tapan Basumatary and Jitu Deka.

Speaking on the occasion, the Joint Area Organizer, SSB, Prasenjit Koch stressed breeders to avail the benefits of modern technology used in goat rearing.

He advised them to rear genetically modified cross breeds to start goat farming as a viable income generating option.

“Sustained efforts are being taken by the government to attain perceptible change in economic growth of the State by boosting self-employment and entrepreneurship in the sector,” Koch said.

He also assured the youths that more such skill development training would be organized under various flagship programme of the Central Government like Antyodaya Yojna, NRLM, Gramin Koushal Yojna in the near future.

He further added that the livestock sector has the potential in addressing the unemployment issues to a large extent in the State.

By adopting modern practices in the field, the sector is feasible for entrepreneurship and other commercial activities which can improve the economic conditions of the people and provide a boost to the economy of State.
