Along with other parts of Assam, the Sonitpur district administration is also getting prepared for the publication of the second draft National Register of Citizens (NRC).
As directed by the Supreme Court of India, the second draft NRC is scheduled to be published by June 30 next.
“As the second draft NRC is going to be published on June 30, preparation is going on in full swing. The officials concerned in the district are doing hard work for publication of the second draft NRC,” said Sonitpur Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Deka while addressing a press conference at Tezpur on Sunday.
He also urged the citizens of the district not to fear and panic if name of any Indian citizen does not get included in the second draft NEC.
“The citizens, whose names are not included in the draft NRC, will get the opportunity even after publication of the second draft NEC to get their names included in the NRC with proper verification of documents,” Deka added.
Sonitpur Deputy Commissioner Deka also said, “The district administration is ready to tackle any kind of situation that may arise after the publication of the second draft NRC.”
The Deputy Commissioner also informed that the district administration has already identified a number of vulnerable NRC Seva Kendra (NSKs) in different parts of the district. He said, “There are altogether 25 NSKs which have been identified as vulnerable across the district.”
He said district administration has sufficient security force personnel to meet any kind of untoward incident.
