Assam Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary on Wednesday handed over skill competency certificates and job offer letters to twenty trainees of IOCL sponsored programme at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati.

Under the CSR initiative of Indian Oil Corporation, Guwahati Refinery, twenty students comprising six girls and fourteen boys, from economically marginalized section of the society, underwent a five months training programme on ‘Machine Operator – Plastic Injection Moulding’ at Plastic Waste Management Centre, CIPET, Guwahati.

After completion of the course, all the students have been successfully placed along with free accommodation at two plastic manufacturing units at Aurangabad and Tarapur of Maharashtra.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary stated that, ‘The Government has a vision to tackle the unemployment issue but government jobs alone cannot suffice. The only alternative arrangement lies in the areas of skill and industries.’

The Minister asked CIPET to conduct similar industry-oriented programmes which would be sponsored by ASDM.

He asked Commissioner and Secretary of Skill Department to start the training programme in mission mode.

‘Skill Department assist in providing finance, building and infrastructure and CIPET will extend faculty, tools and market linkages for conducting such training programmes’, mentioned Patowary.

The Minister congratulated CIPET in successfully conducting the course and offering 100 per cent job placement to the trainees.

He also lauded the CSR activity of IOCL in financially sustaining twenty trainees and their respective families.

Congratulating the trainees, Minister Patowary asked them to aim high and excel in their skills and area of practice.

“Many plastic-related manufacturing units have come up in Assam. In future these very trainees with their expertise and experience can get better opportunities in their hometowns and can be future master trainers as well,” he added.
