The DC reportedly has sought a detailed report in regards to the traffic jam and fix responsibility.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Saturday, publicly scolded the deputy commissioner of Nagaon district for “blocking the traffic”.
The Nagaon district and police administration had allegedly blocked the movement of vehicular traffic near the Nagaon college as security measure for Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
But this did not go down well with the chief minister as he pulled up the Nagaon DC on the matter and ordered him to immediately resume traffic movement.

“DC sahab yeh kya natak hai? Gari kyun rukwaya hai. Koi raja maharaja aa raha hai kya? Hatt! Aisa mat karo again. Logo ko kasht ho raha hai. Gari jane do (What is this drama DC? Why the vehicles have been stopped? Is a king coming here? This should not happen again. People are suffering. Let the vehicles go),” a visibly angry CM Sarma told Nagaon DC.
“I reprimanded officials concerned for halting traffic for me, despite clear direction not to create inconvenience for people during my visit. For over 15 minutes, the national highway was blocked including ambulances. This VIP culture is not acceptable in today’s Assam,” CM Himanta Biswa Sarma later said.
While on one hand the Assam chief minister is drawing flak for his sudden outburst, Sarma on the other hand has defended his move.
