But this did not go down well with the chief minister as he pulled up the Nagaon DC on the matter and ordered him to immediately start traffic movement.
“DC sahab yeh kya natak hai? Gari kyun rukwaya hai. Koi raja maharaja aa raha hai kya? Aisa mat karo again. Logo ko kasht ho raha hai. Gari jane do (What is this drama DC? Why the vehicles have been stopped? Is a king coming here? This should not happen again. People are suffering. Let the vehicles go),” a visibly angry CM Sarma told Nagaon DC.

“I reprimanded officials concerned for halting traffic for me, despite clear direction not to create inconvenience for people during my visit. For over 15 minutes, the national highway was blocked including ambulances. This VIP culture is not acceptable in today’s Assam,” CM Himanta Biswa Sarma later said.
The Assam chief minister was in Nagaon to attend a function where he declared the Nowgaon College as a state university.
“Nowgong College has given many bright minds to the state and the country. Humbled to be among the students, faculty and alumni of the prestigious institution while declaring it as a state university,” said CM Sarma.
He added: “We are committed to fulfilling all infrastructural and academic needs of the institution in this regard.”
“I urge all stakeholders to come up with suggestions on subjects and courses to be imparted and ways to make it a top-notch university in the coming days,” the Assam CM further said.
