“Changing babu mindset is tough, but we are determined to achieve our goal – Janta hi Janardhan,” said CM Sarma.
He added: “In our state we want to create a culture where DC, SP or any government servant/public representative, irrespective of background, intellectual capacity or popularity will work only for the people.”

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Saturday, publicly scolded the deputy commissioner of Nagaon district for blocking the traffic.
The Nagaon district and police administration had blocked the movement of vehicular traffic near the Nagaon college as security measure for Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
But this did not go down well with the chief minister as he pulled up the Nagaon DC on the matter and ordered him to immediately start traffic movement.
“DC sahab yeh kya natak hai? Gari kyun rukwaya hai. Koi raja maharaja aa raha hai kya? Aisa mat karo again. Logo ko kasht ho raha hai. Gari jane do (What is this drama DC? Why the vehicles have been stopped? Is a king coming here? This should not happen again. People are suffering. Let the vehicles go),” a visibly angry CM Sarma told Nagaon DC.

“I reprimanded officials concerned for halting traffic for me, despite clear direction not to create inconvenience for people during my visit. For over 15 minutes, the national highway was blocked including ambulances. This VIP culture is not acceptable in today’s Assam,” CM Himanta Biswa Sarma later said.
This outburst of CM Sarma, however, has not gone down well among people from all quarters of life in Assam.
“I remember last month (in December), I was standing in Maligaon Chariali for a cab. Suddenly the traffic police stopped all vehicles of roads. After around 7 minutes, our CM passed with his 10-12 cars. At that time, he didn’t scold our Kamrup Metro’s DC. Then why such an act today? P.S. He should talk with respect to an IAS,” wrote a Facebook user.
