For the first time a lady has been elected uncontested as the president of Hojai Bar Association of the district in Assam.
Ruhina Waris Choudhury has been elected as the president on May 2 last, with the full consent of all the members of Hojai Bar Association.
On the other hand, the election for various other post were held on Saturday.
Rajesh Agarwala and Taj Uddin Khan were elected as vice-presidents, Amar Jyoti Saika as general secretary, Jnandra Debnath as joint secretary, Sarifuddin Ahmed as assistant secretary and Biswajit Bhatacharjee as library secretary.
Bijon Deb, Deepak Debnath, Namita Sharma, Pubali Dutta, Sanku Choudhury and Uttam Das are kept in the executive committee as members.
Talking to the Northeast Now on Monday evening, the new president Ruhina Waris Choudhury said, “I am delighted on being the first lady president of Hojai Bar Association, thankful to each and everyone for their support and having faith in me.”
She said, “Taking each and every member of Hojai Bar Association together with unison will work for its development and welfare.”
“My dream is to take Hojai Bar Association to new heights of success,” Choudhury added.
