Noted Assam filmmaker Rima Das’s new film ‘Bulbul Can Sing’ got a Special Mention from the Generation 14plus International Jury at the Berlin International Film Festival.
The film festival is also popularly known as Berlinale, in Germany is one of the oldest and most prestigious film festivals in the world, reports The Telegraph.
Rima, wrote the film’s script and produced it like her previous ventures.
The film tells the story of Bulbul, a teenage schoolgirl, who grows up in a rural area of Assam. While she is on the verge of discovering her teen life, a tragedy strikes her best friend. A spirited Bulbul fights her way through love and loss as she figures out who she really is.
Bulbul Can Sing also had its European premiere during the festival on February 12.
Maryanne Redpath, head of Generation section of the festival, has also highly appreciated the film.
Arnali Das, who played the protagonist, was also applauded for her work.
Earlier, Bulbul Can Sing had its world premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival. It was screened at the Busan International Film Festival, the largest film festival in Asia.
