In order to ensure free and fair conduct of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the district, the district magistrate of Dibrugarh district of eastern Assam has imposed restriction on possession of arms and ammunition during the notified period of election.

All the arms license holders of Dibrugarh district have been directed to deposit their arms and ammunition in the nearest police station with immediate effect failing which necessary action will be taken against the defaulters as per provisions of Arms Act, 1959.

All the arms and ammunitions deposited will be released once the notified period of election is over.
