Talking to Northeast Now,Superintendent of Police, Rajveer Singh said, “The two group of students fought over trivial matters which resulted in the death of the victim. We have already identified five persons alleged to be involved in the incident and they will be nabbed soon.”

The deceased has been identified as Mrisanka Basumatary, a resident of Babupara locality in Ward No 3 of Tangla town.

The mother of the victim Sunita Das Basumatary said,“Our younger son had rang me crying to save his life from a group of unidentified unruly youths who had attacked him with bamboo sticks after verbal altercation with them.”

“By the time my husband and I reached, he was left severely injured. We took him to the Tangla CHC where he was provided with first aid and referred to Mangaldai Civil Hospital. However, the pulse rate dropped and he succumbed to injuries on the way to Mangaldai,” the hapless mother further added.
