Synchronizing with the slogan ‘No voter should be left out’ as announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI), Assam’s Darrang district administration on Wednesday organized a voters’ awareness race christened ‘Run for vote’ at Mangaldai town.

The race conducted under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme witnessed a good number of young and veteran runners taking part wearing same white T-shirts inscripted with different awareness messages on ethical voting including ‘Vote ethically, vote sensibly’, ‘My vote, my choice, not to sale’. At the end of the race prominent veteran participants including octogenarian international level athlete Biren Medhi were felicitated in a closing function at Kachari Maidan in Mangaldai.

Earlier, the race was ceremonially flagged off by additional deputy commissioner Kulen Sarmah, in charge of the district SVEEP Cell in presence of other officers of the Cell including assistant commissioner Monika Borgohain and project officer, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Darrang, Jagadish Bhattacharya among others.
