Although the party workers during a meeting brought a cake on stage at Gulab Chandra Natya Mandir in Tinsukia on Tuesday to celebrate the birthday in public, Sarma refused to cut the cake and even resisted the CM as there was a photograph of the PM on the cake.
“We thought of cutting a cake on the occasion of Narendra Modi’s birthday. But those who made the cake put an image of the Prime Minister on it out of love,” Sarma said refusing to cut the cake.
“We cannot cut the cake as cutting it would also mean cutting the photograph of our dear leader,” Sarma said while addressing the gathering.
He said the PM had already prioritized ‘seva’ to cutting cake for celebrating his birthday and appealed to everyone to serve the people of the society to celebrate his birthday.
Both the CM and the Finance Ministers in Tinsukia on Tuesday to attend a programme to lay the foundation stone of a railway over bridge at Sreepuria Road in the eastern Assam town.
