The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has made a clean sweep in the Hojai College Students’ Union election (2018-19) held on Friday. The ABVP won all the 13 posts, defeating Mahakal.
Sirshendu Debnath (ABVP) was elected as president, Padmini Sahu (ABVP) as vice-president, Loknath Bhattacharjee (ABVP) as General Secretary, Charlisong Timung (ABVP) as Assistant General Secretary, Deep Saha (ABVP) as Cultural Secretary, Prashenjeet Deb(ABVP) as Outdoor Games Secretary, Abhijit Singha (ABVP) as Indoor Games Secretary, Akash Tisso (ABVP) as Debate and Symposium Secretary, Mohit Kumar Singh (ABVP) as Social Service Secretary, Lucky Dutta (ABVP) as Students Aid Fund Secretary, Abhijit Roy (ABVP) as Magazine Secretary, Raju Roy (ABVP) as Boys Common Room Secretary and Isha Dey (ABVP) as Girls Common Room Secretary.
Elections were held under the supervision of Election Officer Shusuman Sarkar and Dr Manoj Kumar Swami and Shubhojit Chakraborty, Joint Election Officers.
Talking to Northeast Now, Dr Manoj Kumar Swami said, “The polling process started on Friday morning from 8 am onwards and continued till 12 noon. Around 57 per cent students cast their votes.”
“We are thankful to the Police Department, Fire Brigade Department and Health Department for ensuring that the elections went off without a hitch,” Dr Swami added.
