Guwahati: An 11-year-old girl was killed in an accident after a vehicle belonging to a police officer ran over her in Moran of Dibrugarh, Assam.
The incident took place on Monday evening when the girl, Rashmita Gaur, was going to see Durga Puja celebrations with her mother in the Bamunbari area.

According to reports, the vehicle was driven by SI Anup Gayan.

The girl was first taken to the Lengeri Hospital and was later referred to the Dibrugarh Medical College and Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The deceased was a resident of Borbeel in Charaedeo district.

An FIR has been registered against Gayan at Moran Police Station.
The locals have demanded strict actions against the police officials.
