Guwahati: A disturbing incident occurred in Golakganj in Assam’s Dhubri district, when a 12-year-old boy, reportedly distraught over not receiving new clothes for the Durga Puja festivities, jumped off a bridge into the river.

Family members of the boy, identified as Suman Roy, a Class 8 student of Gaikhowa Gandhigram Middle School, revealed that he was deeply upset about not receiving new clothes for the occasion.

In a moment of despair, he took the extreme step of jumping into Gadadhar river, leaving everyone in a state of shock.

Alerted by the locals, police and SDRF teams promptly arrived at the scene and initiated rescue operations. However, despite their relentless efforts, the search for the missing boy has been unsuccessful so far.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the emotional vulnerability of children and the importance of addressing their needs and concerns with sensitivity.
