A man named Idak Bagra who had allegedly raped a 70-year-old woman on Sunday has surrendered before the police at Aalo in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday.
The 25-year-old man threatened the elderly lady with dire consequences and raped her at midnight in Hidi Bagra village in West Siang district of the state.

The family members of the woman registered a case against the rapist under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code at the Aalo police station.
Several organizations including women bodies of the state staged a peaceful demonstration in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner at the district headquarters of Aalo on Friday in protest of the incident.
They also submitted a joint representation to the district administration demanding strict action against against Bagra for committing the shocking crime.

The organizations also demanded the Deputy Commissioner to instruct the circle officer of Bagra to stay in his place of posting.
They also demanded that a police outpost be set up in the circle to stop such crimes from occurring.
As per reports, the accused man had also committed similar crime against a daily wage earner in Hidi Bagra village outside the state in May last year.

The Aalo police station had registered a case against him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
However, he was later absolved of all charges by a court due to lack of evidence.
Last year, in a similar incident, a 70 –year-old woman was reportedly gang-raped in Monabari Tea Estate in Biswanath district of Assam.
The miscreants took advantage of the situation when the elderly lady was alone at home and raped her while her son was away from home at work.
Police sources informed that all the miscreants were under the influence of alcohol when they committed the dreadful crime.
As per the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) statistics, over 10,000 women were raped in Assam from the year 2008 to 2018.
