Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu on Monday joined the Galo community celebrating the Mopin festival in Basar in Lepa-Rada district.
Galo women dressed I their traditional attire welcomed the chief minister at the festival ground in Basar by smearing rice flour on his face, a traditional ritual.
Mopin is an agriculture festival of the Galo tribe and is celebrated in Spring.
Speaking on the occasion, Khandu said that Mopin, the festival of white signifies peace, prosperity and purity and hoped that the festival brings harmony in the lives of all individuals.
The chief minister also flagged off the “Mopin Joy Ride cum Awareness ride 2021” at Basar early during the day.

About 20 cyclists from across India participated in the cycle rally that was organized by the Arunachal Amateur Bicycling Association.
This team of cyclists will be cycling across the Lepa-Rada district in the next few days.
