COVID19: Ramakrishna Mission Hospital in Itanagar suspends all services for a week

The Ramkrishna Mission Hospital (RKMH) in Itanagar will temporarily stop all its services for a week from September 14 “because of its staff testing Covid-19 positive regularly.”

Emergency services will also stop from Sunday.

The decision was taken in an emergency meeting between the hospital authorities and the staff on Saturday after 25 health workers, including three doctors, tested positive for the virus over the past few days.

The Ramkrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar authorities said the residential complex is qualified to be declared a containment zone, however, it was thought more prudent to close down the hospital to break the chain of infection and prevent further spread of the disease.

A decision was also taken to test all the staff and their relatives.

The hospital authorities have regretted the inconvenience caused by the decision and hoped the people would cooperate with them.

They also urged the people to restrict their visit to the hospital for the week and adhere to all precautionary measures.

Earlier in the meeting, Ramkrishna Mission Hospital secretary Swami Vishweshananda gave a condolence note for Salmi Sangdigoria, the hospital’s sanitary assistant, who succumbed to the virus while on duty.

She was the first healthcare worker who died fighting the disease.

The member present paid tributes to the departed soul and mourned her untimely death.
