Textiles and handicrafts minister Tumke Bagra on Wednesday reviewed the preparedness and lockdown measures taken in the West Siang district to fight COVID19 pandemic.

Minister Bagra had a meeting which was attended by deputy commissioner Swetika Sachan, district medical officer Dr Moli Riba and other officers of the nodal departments.

During the meeting, Bagra lauded the efforts of the officers in handling the situation so far despite limitations of modern personal protection and testing equipment.

While quoting ‘prevention is always better than cure’, the minister said the situation that arouse following the imposition of nationwide lockdown was managed excellently by the administration, police and medical department.

He appreciated the voluntary services rendered by organizations like Galo Youth Organisation and Paktu Ao Youth Association.

Minister Bagra appreciated the gestures shown by the NGOs, welfare societies, government officers, businessmen and public alike for coming up with voluntary contributions in the form of cash and kind.

Earlier, the deputy commissioner, DMO and nodal officers briefed the minister on the measures being taken up in the district under Team West Siang.
