All the major rivers of the East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, especially Siang River are flowing above danger level and Siku River eroding approach road at Siku Bridge toward western side.

Meanwhile, the district administration has issued a prohibitory order banning heavy vehicle movement along the Siku Bridge.

In an order issued on Saturday, deputy commissioner of East Siang, Dr Kinny Singh vide U/S 144 CrPC, the entry of heavy vehicles on the bridge above the capacity of one ton, plying of double lane traffic from both sides of the bridge, traffic and plying of vehicles on the said road between 7 pm to 5 am have been banned completely.

Superintendent of police, East Siang has also deployed police personnel at the Siku bridge point to monitor the ground situation.

Siku Bridge along National Highway 52 connects its part of Mebo sub-division along with rest of eastern Arunachal Pradesh with Pasighat and western Arunachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, as per the order of the deputy commissioner of Pasighat, all the blockade along the Pane Korong along Advanced Landing Ground Wall at Lower Baskota have been cleared for easy passages of river and stagnant rain water which were causing inundation of several dwelling houses in the Lower Baskota areas.

Magistrates, officials of PMC and DDMO were personally seen supervising the blocked channel clearance by engaging Pokland and JCB.

Informing about their effort, EAC H Lollen said that, there were blockade along the course of Pane Korong (a river stream passing through the Pasighat township since ages) due to encroachment etc.

Those blockades were cleared including a major big building which had encroached over the river channel.

While Pasighat municipal officials and staffs are into the clearance of blocked channel from last five days covering around two km, informed PMC executive engineer.

Meanwhile, at Mebo sub-division, officials and all link departments have been kept on alertness in view of possible causes of damages under Lower Mebo villages which posses large threat from flooding Siang river, said Mebo MLA Lombo Tayeng.

“I have appealed and directed all the agencies concerned like PWD to make necessary arrangement for restoration of any damages by the surging rivers so that normal movements are not hampered,” added Tayeng.

When asked about the possible sanctioning of Rs 35 crores for flood control works under Lower Mebo as assured by chief minister Pema Khandu during the end of his previous tenure, Mebo MLA Tayeng said that he is in touch with the DoNER Ministry and the fund allocation is in the final stage and the fund will be released anytime soon during August-September next.

“I am putting in by best efforts so that, a major flood control are erected to give secured protection to the villages under Lower Mebo/Monggu Banggo,” added Tayeng.
